Trumpeter Jason Carder grew up in Arizona and began his musical education studying with Glen Bowling (National Symphony Orchestra), James Benitez (Phoenix Symphony Orchestra), and Stephen Steele (director of bands at Illinois State University). His formal musical education continued at Interlochen Arts Academy and was completed at the University of Miami under the tutelage of Gilbert Johnson and Whit Sidener. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Studio Music and Jazz from the University of Miami. During his formative years, Jason was the recipient of the "Fine Arts Award" at Interlochen and won First Prize in the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition in 1988. Jason's professional experience includes tours with the bands of Maria Schneider, Ray Charles, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Paul Anka, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, and the Jaco Pastorius Big Band. He has contributed his talent to over seventy albums, including "Sky Blue" by Maria Schneider, and Arturo Sandoval's "Rumba Palace," "Americana," and Grammy Award-winning "Hot House," and Young Jeezy's "The Inspiration." His soundtrack credits include "There's Something About Mary," "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights," and "Bailando por Un Sueno." He also has appeared as featured soloist with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra under Peter Nero, and the New World School of the Arts Big Band. Jason's teaching experience includes adjunct positions at Mannes School of Music (Prep Division), Florida International University, and the University of Miami. |
